This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school has a rich musical history. We are trying to update our facilities. Our students are also working very hard on their individual performance responsibilities. We are using technology more and more in the class room, so the benefit of having a celing mount for our projection system wll allow every student to participate and learn from each other without the distraction of clutter. We have traditional instruments in our instrumental program and a growing choral and guitar program as well. Our students strive to become the best musicians they can be and deserve the best equipment possible to help them do this.
My Project
Currently, our concert percussion has begun to wear down. The first thing we have decided to purchase is a new snare drum. The quality sound of a proper drum will help bring the other wind and percussion sounds together. While it might seem like a small instrument, and while it does not get as much attention as a marching drumline, a high quality instrument will allow the students to focus on the musical qualities rather than worrying about the condition of the instrument. It will also allow the students to hear a representative tone and correctly tuned concert percussion instrument.
