This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are at RES where most of the students are socio-economically deprived, and receive all kinds of support public benefits. Nevertheless, the administration, the teachers and supporting staff believe that certain instruments should be equitable for all children. So, through a special donation project, the school was lucky to receive all these violins for 3rd and 4th-grade students. This action will better the school culture, build the artistic perception, and great patience within each student.
We are in an immediate need of better protected and long-lasting rosins for these 165 student violins.
Many rosins that came with the original purchase of the violins are cracked and missing. We are in an immediate need of better protected and long-lasting rosins for these 165 student violins.
When the schools were shut down in short notice, many students left their violins in the classroom. Now, on certain days, when our school is open for a couple of hours, following all safety precautions, parents arrive to pick up iPads and homework assignments, and also their violins (I am available to tune them).
My Project
These quality rosins have thick wooden protection and for that, they are durable and will not be cracked in small accidents. As the students are practicing from home, and most of the time they are on their own, with their siblings and personal/family environment, they need these rosins to produce the violin string sound; they cannot practice without it.
Music, and making music through playing the violin is an interactive and creative effort, so drilling/practicing is essential for these elementary students to carry a daily chore of a balanced learning load.
So, let us surprise them with a random act of kindness!
