Help me give my students quality art supplies that would ignite my young students' imaginations. The most expensive items in my cart are appropriate sized aprons to cover the young artists' clothes when creating their masterpieces.
The students I teach are enthusiastic and ready to take on any challenge I give them in art. They are not world travelers and many of my students have never traveled to another state. The culture and artists I introduce to my students are their only means of exploring the world. We are located in the Houston area and are close to the Museum District, but most of my students haven't been there before. My goal is to bring the art to the classroom.
I love being able to share my enthusiasm for art and artists with my students.
I treasure the moments when they tell me Art is their favorite class or how excited they are to come to Art. Because I teach grades K-4, I have the opportunity to have students for five years and watch them grow as artists. The students are able to build upon previous skills to create better art. I want to continue to challenge them to their full artist potential with quality supplies.
My Project
The supplies I am asking for in this grant are basic art supplies that every child should have access to. This includes aprons to keep their clothes clean, dry erase boards to practice their drawings so paper is not wasted, and new products such as General's Chalk Pastel Pencils that are too expensive for my school budget,
I want my students to be able to have quality supplies so they can make their best art projects something they can be proud of.
Right now, my students are using very small chunks of chalk pastel to create art. Some of the pieces are so small that the students have a hard time holding them at all. My students have been begging me to teach a lesson about Claude Monet. Many of his painting have this soft, dreamy quality. This style would be very easy for young children to imitate using quality chalk pastels.
