My Project

Illiteracy in America continues to rise at an alarming rate. Research is proving the correlation between nonreaders and a difficult future in all aspects of life. There has been a phrase used to explain illiteracy as the pipeline to prison. A recent viewing of the Amazon Prime documentary, The Truth about Reading, introduced me to the Evidence Based Literacy Instruction website and training opportunity. As a devoted educator, I want to learn about the best, science backed resources to meet the needs of all students.

The EBLI training will supply me with quality intervention instruction to implement with my small groups of K-5 students, as well as allow me to serve as a resource for teachers and the students I am unable to work with each year.

The Evidence Based Literacy Instruction K-12 Intervention Training focuses on the five pillars of literacy which are: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. This training also provides additional information in other areas of literacy skills such as, handwriting and spelling.

Early intervention is everything. I am hopeful you will consider making a donation to my professional development training to create more successful readers and reduce the current illiteracy rates.
