My Students

Do you remember always getting excited when you were able to use a calculator in math? The students in my classes benefit greatly from the use of their calculators, but I do not have enough for them all to benefit from this great tool for learning.

As with every district in the state of Illinois, our school district is facing financial challenges and budget concerns.

I am looking for a creative way to continue meeting the needs of the students in my classroom without asking for additional funds from the district. I am lucky enough to teach 110 students each day. These 7th and 8th graders are what keep my day going and put a smile on my face. Our school district has faced financial problems with the state budget continuing to get tighter each year.

My Project

I am requesting a set of calculators for my 7th and 8th grade students. I believe that each of my students deserves the opportunity to expand their math knowledge, and our curriculum is enhanced with the use of calculators. It is important for each student to be able to work on one so that they are not falling behind their peers. Students can use scientific calculators to quickly access various mathematical functions (logarithmic, trigonometric, exponential) as well as statistics and probability calculations. The right technology will provide the needed tools for my students to accomplish their learning goals! Having enough calculators for the whole class will allow the students to be successful on in class assessments as well as state testing.

My students need these calculators to enhance their learning in my classroom and to enable them to all work on problems together without falling behind.

These calculators will be a welcomed and loved addition to the class. I know my students would greatly appreciate being able to use a reliable calculator for their equations.
