This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are four years old. For many, this is their first time in school. They are primarily English language learners. They are excited and love learning.
Young children learn best through hands-on activities and play.
My students learn letters, numbers, colors, and thematic topics by working together and having fun. Our school just opened and due to budgetary issues, lacks many materials necessary in order to run a rich classroom environment. Often, we are limited due to lack of resources.
My Project
Puzzles are considered a standard learning tool in a preschool classroom. Unfortunately, due to budget restrictions, our site has no puzzles. We would like a class puzzle set for our students to use on a daily bases.
Puzzles enhance a child's cognitive abilities, fine motor skills, spatial recognition, and are great for content area learning.
In order to complete a puzzle, children need to begin to recognize different shapes and to learn how to problem solve. Puzzles are also a wonderful tool to reinforce content area information such as the alphabet, numbers, and categorization. They are also valuable as a quiet relaxing activity for children.
