Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located on the southwest side of our city in Illinois, nestled in a diverse, yet highly populated Hispanic neighborhood. Our PreK-8 programs include students with Individualized Education Plans as well as English Language Learners.
Our school is a Title I school in which 82% of our students are from low-income families.
Many of our students' families do not have the extra income to help support their young learners at home, especially due to the pandemic.
My Project
The puzzles that I am requesting will help make a difference in my blended 4 year old preschool class because it will give my students the opportunity to work independently and increase their problem solving skills. My students will also be able to increase their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
The students in my blended pre-k classroom are both general education and special education students who will benefit from these puzzles, especially during independent and free choice center time.
This will also help increase their independence throughout the school year.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
