My Students

What's a kindergarten class without puzzles? Unfortunately, our class has none!

My students are 5-6 year-old children who live in a low socio-economic community.

The majority of students are English language learners. They are great kids, but many times have to deal with difficult situations in their lives. Though our school may not be located in a great area, we work hard to give our students an inviting place to learn, a chance to experience new and memorable things, and create an opportunity for a better life.

My Project

Puzzles are great activities for people of all ages, but for a developing child, they can be especially beneficial for stimulating motor, social, and problem solving skills. The wood puzzles I am requesting will be used in the classroom during independent work time. Students will be able to engage themselves in a puzzle alone or with friends, while I work with smaller groups during differentiated instruction time. In addition, the puzzles I am requesting support letter sound relationships and awareness and respect for others with differences and disabilities.

Puzzles serve as a fun tool to engage students in learning.

They stimulate thinking and promote social skills. These puzzles are especially beneficial for my English language learners because they need visuals to learn new vocabulary. These puzzles will really engage and support students as they learn.
