My Multilingual Learner team are fortunate to work with a diverse group of Multilingual learner students in a city school district setting. Elementary-aged Multilingual learners (ML's) are eager to learn and bring their diverse learning backgrounds to our classrooms. Students and their families represent many countries from around the world which creates a wonderful learning culture.
Creating a comfortable, welcoming environment for ML's helps to reduce the students' effective filter and allows for free thinking and sharing of ideas, therefore opens the doors to effective teaching and learning.
Our classrooms are used to instruct ML's of similar language proficiencies to develop their language acquisition skills, such as vocabulary development, grammar, sentence structure, and comprehension of the English language, to name a few, through small group instruction.
My Project
Through the use of adjustable teaching tables, our Multilingual Learner team of teachers will provide small, intensive, targeted group instruction with a focus on language acquisition. Word work lessons, guided reading, and vocabulary games, just to name a few! Students will think, pair, and share their ideas with one another to develop their language skills along with their peers.
The adjustable tables are the perfect setting for students to hone their language skills with their Multilingual learner peers through guided reading, writing, listening, and speaking practice.
The tables provide endless opportunities to do so!
