I am going to start working in a school library next year that has been without a true librarian for over 3 years. They have not had anyone with the ideas of how a media center should be run/ activities it should have for a very long time. The students haven't had any new or fresh ideas brought into the library for years. They only use the library has had was to basically check books in and out. I want to set up various stations/ centers/ maker spaces for the students to be able to complete. The school utilizes a positive behavior system throughout the building. Having activities like these in the media center will help to incorporate that behavior system in the library. These activities will be good for creativity, morale and hand- eye coordination/ dexterity. The puzzles will also be good to help improve problem solving/ higher level thinking skills.
