This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It has been months since Hurricane Harvey, but our community continues to rebuild and replace what has been lost. Our campus' biggest loss has been our library. Although our awesome librarian has tried to create a space for our kids to learn library skills and get books, they are on carts she has organized. We hope that our library will be renovated this summer but until then we wait.

Our school is a Title One school with many of our kids not having access to books and technology.

I attended a tech conference this summer only to realize that we need to be able to put more technology in the hands of our student with a direct purpose.

My Project

Chromebooks would be a great resource that my kids could utilize in a variety of ways. The few desktops they have are obsolete and need constant maintenance from our district tech support. With chrome books they can complete tasks that are web-based such as Nearpod, Reflex math fact practice, read Epic books, research sights, and others that I learned about at my technology conference. Adding 6 additional devices will help every child have one to work with during stations and independent work time. The devices would be used daily to enhance their learning all year long. Adding Chromebooks to our classroom would also free up the few tablets we have to be used to document for the digital portfolios we are responsible for. I would like help to give these kids the resources to rise to their fullest potential.
