Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love teaching the early childhood population. They are all artists at this stage, they are not yet intimidated by the abilities of others. They try to do their best and are proud of any and all achievements. I enjoy reading picture books to the children and often get ideas and inspiration from the authors/illustrators for art activities. Teaching younger students has its challenges, their energy is high but that can be contagious and a good thing if you can get them to want to put that energy and excitement into their work !

My Project

After putting their heart in their art the last thing I want to do is place a child’s mini masterpiece on the floor where it could accidentally get stepped on! With the addition of a drying rack to store paintings this will no longer be a problem. The class pack of bold crayola markers will be used in a Valentine’s Day project inspired by the artwork of Romero Britto and allow students the opportunity to create bright colorful patterns in heart shaped designs. The model magic will allow me to teach one of my favorite literature based lessons on color mixing with a hands on activity to go with it. Thanks for your help and support!
