My Students

Imagine hearing for the first time, "I can't believe I finished my first chapter book! Can we read another?" My heart jumped for joy. I work in a Title I kindergarten through eighth grade school, with over 90% of the population comprised of African American students. Due to our high rate of transient population our students are performing two to three years below grade level. I have some hardworking students who are in need of a little assistance to help them reach their potential.

My Project

Starting a new year can be stressful if you don't have the materials needed. We are in need of the basic materials to help make our classroom inviting. With pencils, paper, glue sticks, a document camera, reading intervention books, and storage materials I will be able to reach my scholars in multiple ways.

The document camera will help me bring learning alive, by allowing real time material to be seen anywhere.

I will be able to use the reading strategy book to help meet the needs of all my scholars and be able to store all of our materials in a neat place. Our classroom has very little storage for our scholars to put their material, using the storage bins will help each student have a place to use. In our classroom we use a lot of glue for our interactive notebook. The notebooks help serve as a reference guide to our scholars to help with their studies. To help eliminate notebook paper, the Rocket books will help scholars organize their notebook electronic. Once students write down the information, it will be organized in their online notebook. Helping them become 21st century learners.
