Putting My Students In Control Of Their Own Learning!
My students need a variety of seating that is flexible and can support their learning. With learning styles and the needs changing, this project will support the needs of all of my students!
As a teacher in a very diverse and low income area, our school and classroom is faced with many challenges. Even though we are faced with many challenges, we have an amazing community that helps support not only our school but also our students.
My classroom is comprised of 23 energetic and smiling faces.
Their energy and eagerness to learn is what encourages me to push and try to give them it all. Even though we are faced with challenges daily, we are a family and we support one another. While it being my first year in first grade, our classroom is need of some supplies and materials to best support and meet the needs of all of my students.
My Project
These flexible seating materials will support my students by making them feel empowered by giving them the choice of where they can maximize their learning the best. Flexible seating lets students choose where they would like to work in the classroom. It allows students to move, stand, wobble, or sit making them more actively engaged and focused. The lap trays will allow students to find an area in the classroom to get their work done on the floor. Students will be able to ist as a table with other students on stools instead of just working in a chair at their desk or can use a clipboard. The sit spots will allow students to pick wherever they choose that encourages their best learning.
This will not only encourage a positive attitude toward learning, it will also help eliminate distractions and classroom behavior.
Students having the choice of how they want to work and being able to move will keep them more on task and they will get to explore how they learn best!
