Every day, our students access text through interactive read alouds. They listen to the story being read, popcorn read to practice fluency, and use the text to answer questions.
Students have grown so much as readers through this reading process. They have fallen in love with reading!
Our students are inquisitive, eager students.
They come from various backgrounds. We are, however, a Title one school. Every student is able to receive a free lunch and breakfast due to the financial needs of the majority of families. Despite this, our students are working hard to make college readiness goals. Through Interactive Read Aloud, they are making huge gains!
My Project
The students will use these copies of Charlotte's Web, so that every student in our second grade will have a book in their hands! They will not have to lose pace waiting for a partner to finish reading. They will have the option to write in their books lightly with a pencil to circle answers as they prove that their responses are correct. They will also be able to make notes about character changes as they read.
The video will allow us to celebrate our hard work by seeing the story in a live action film. Students will compare and contrast the book and the video.
This project will make a difference by recharging the excitement our students have developed for reading.
They love this time of day. They are not truly aware of the benefits of Interactive Read Aloud. They are, however, loving reading! Having a book of their own will send this excitement over the top!
