Help me give my students a book and CVS gift cards to use in our experiential learning project to pay to print photos to create meaningful memory books that celebrate their individuality and diversity as a community of learners.

My Project

Our classroom is a tight-knit community in which we build trust and relationships to learn in a meaningful way together. We build our community and bridge individuals to make connections through stories we share, books we read, and the memories we create. The inspirational book, Extraordinary Women with Cameras: 35 Photographers Who Changed How We See the World, will set the stage for telling our story in fourth grade. I want my students to have a vivid memory of their fourth-grade year and classmates. My hope is that my students see themselves in our community of diverse learners and a wonderful way to do so is through a memory book that includes photos from our year of learning together.

The bond we have as a class and diverse community of learners will be everlasting with a personalized memory book for each child highlighting their commonalities and differences which made our year memorable and has taught them life lessons about working together and accepting others for who they are.

What better way to do this than to have my students take photos and then select the ones they wish to have printed and included in their memory book! The gift cards will cover the cost to print the photos my students choose as well as provide them with the experience of determining how many photos they can print based on the amount of the gift card. Financial literacy at its finest in a real-life lesson! This project will give my students a tangible learning experience in which they are empowered to have choice and voice in the photos they choose and take pride and ownership in the ability to pay to print the photos!
