Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am asking for new board games for my classroom. At this time, state testing is about to start and my goal is to give my students a creative outlet for when they are finished testing. State testing is virtual which can be draining. My goal is to give my students an opportunity to step away from their computer and cell phone screens and engage in a new activity.
There are so many benefits to playing games.
To start, board games promote SEL and inclusiveness by reducing stress and giving students an opportunity to practice social skills. Board games enhance critical thinking skills, memory, and attention span. Board games also promote life skills such as taking turns, using fine motor skills, and time management.
My students are part of a new generation that spend a lot of time behind a screen. This project will give them an opportunity to try something new, talk to someone new, and think creatively.
