Put The Fun in Functional!

My Students

My students come from extreme poverty and are constantly battling outside forces that impact their abilities in the classroom. They feel safe in our school, but that is the only security in their lives - a haven to escape the drugs, violence, and other evils.

Even with all that weighing on their minds, they are hopeful.

They love to learn, love to be nurtured, and love to learn to be a Person of Character! Our therapy room needs some specific equipment in order to help our students reach their optimum potential!

My Project

My students are lacking in the basic building blocks to make them successful in the school setting. As parents are relying on technology to entertain young children, we are seeing a sharp decline in fine motor skills and hand strength in general. Children do not have the necessary skills that will help them succeed in school. These fine motor games and activities that I requested will help them improve their hand strength, bilateral coordination, and ability to grasp small objects so that they can be successful within the school setting.

Fine motor skills impact all areas in the school setting such as coloring, cutting, self-care, and writing.

The My First Pop Beads and the Building Brick STEM Challenge Kit will help them improve their strength while keeping them engaged. They LOVE exploring different toys and activities which keeps them motivated to come to their therapy sessions! You should see their faces when they have finally mastered a skill! Their smiles are definitely priceless!!
