Put the Focus on the Work, Not on the Wobbly Furniture!
My students need one dry erase/magnetic easel for whole class lessons.

My Students
This seems like a funny item to write a DonorsChoose grant for. However, there is no other way I could hope to get a new easel for teaching lessons. Imagine my current easel. It stands on wobbly legs, ready to topple over at any minute. It is a distraction from the lesson.
I want my students to focus on the work we are doing.
I want them to be able to write on the board and present their own ideas without fearing that the easel will fall over on them. I want them to be able to grab a dry erase marker to write on the board, without having to rummage through a dusty old bin from the last century.
My students are an amazing bunch. They are a diverse group racially, ethnically, socioeconomically, and in terms of their academic and physical abilities. One thing that unifies them is their need to take pride in their classroom.
My Project
Again, it seems funny to ask anonymous donors to donate money to something as trifling as a dry-erase easel. However, the easel is really the focal point of the classroom. It's a main point of focus for most of our whole-class lessons. It's where we record our ideas and make the charts that hang around our class. And let me tell you, our current easel is falling apart. Of course my principal has greater concerns than replacing an easel. This is why I'm appealing to you, the donor.
I want an easel not just for myself, but for my students.
I try to give my students access to all parts of the room. If they need paper or art supplies, they know where it is, and retrieve it themselves. It's not "my room," it's "our room." It's the same with my easel. I want them to be able to use all the accessories that come with it, and to be able to use it to help teach their classmates (and me). Please help me to rehabilitate our class's meeting area!
