Do you remember how you felt waiting for the first game of the season and all the preparation that took place to get ready? My female athletes share that excitement of waiting for and then finally getting to compete on their respective court and/or field. These girls have the desire to become not just better athletes but better people across the board!
Many of our students are using athletics, in addition to their academic achievements, to get offered a scholarship so that they may build a better future for themselves.
More than half of our students at THS are from low-income households. With that being said, many of our student-athletes have jobs in order to help support themselves and alleviate the pressure put on their parents. They know what hard work is, and they are not afraid of it. They thrive in situations others would have a very hard time facing. We really do have great kids that want to better themselves in every way and I am so proud of them! Go Bobcats!
My Project
These basketballs will benefit many different boys. Our varsity, junior varsity, and some middle school players all practice in our gym. When we are all in the gym at the same time there are around 35 boys practicing at the same time. At this time, we do not have enough balls for everyone to get an adequate shooting session.
Many of our boys could really improve if they had extra practice time.
However, with so many boys, and so few balls it has become quite obvious that we do not have enough. These balls would be made available to all of our players from 7th-12th grade and would help them become better ball-handlers, shooters, and passers. This Wilson Evolution basketball has recently been required by the Alabama High School Athletic Association so the addition of these 5 balls would really help us greatly. Thank you for considering a donation to our project.
