My students need eight packs of building blocks, sets of wheels and tires, sets of doors and windows, and a set of community mini-figures to put the Art in STEAM!

My Students
I am currently an interventionist and STEAM Lab teacher at an amazing elementary school. The STEAM lab will serve students in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade. They will have an opportunity to visit the lab for STEAM challenges multiple times a month.
I teach at a low socioeconomic school, where 88% of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch.
It is very important for my students to have hands-on materials to enrich their learning experience. Their attention spans are not meant to sit on a rug and listen to a lecture. The best way for students to learn is to have interaction with their subject and to get involved. The children get so excited and are ready to learn when they have opportunities for hands-on activities.
My Project
My school is full of creative students! The students love visiting the STEAM Lab where we focus of developing the 4 C's- communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. I am always looking for ways to help unleash their creativity with hands-on materials!
What better way to unleash creativity and bring Art into STEAM than with building blocks?!
The opportunities are endless! I am requesting eight packs of building blocks, sets of wheels and tires, sets of doors and windows, and a set of community mini-figures. These materials will allow my students to create anything they can imagine. They can create sculptures, like the artist Nathan Sawaya. They can also design and create buildings, vehicles, and anything else they can imagine.
My students will benefit from having creative freedom. It means the world to them to have their visions brought to life. The new materials will do just that- bring their vision to life!
