My Students

Due to the global pandemic, the past few years have been hard on students everywhere. They have been trying to navigate their education in a whole different atmosphere and environment than normal. Students have been either stuck at home or have limited interaction in the classroom because of social distancing. They haven't been able to interact and work with their peers as they have in the past.

My Project

Getting enough materials for doing science experiments in small groups or even partners will help students interact with one another more closely, something they haven't been able to do for some time because of at-home learning and social distancing. Also, giving them the materials to actually try out the experiments, not only watching them done on Nearpod or YouTube, will help them learn and master the content so much better! As part of our fourth-grade science core, we learn about energy and energy transfers. The materials and equipment I am asking for will let students explore those transfers, such as electric energy transfers to make a lightbulb light up and solar energy transfers, using the thermometers to measure the difference in temperatures in different objects. They will also learn about potential and kinetic energy and the different forces that affect it. Students will become scientists as they design and carry out their experiments, testing to see if their hypotheses are true. What is better than that?
