This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of energy and enthusiasm! They enjoy being active and engaged in enriching activities, especially during Centers time and it's time to integrate technology into their day!
I have the most amazing group of 6 year Old's!
They just started school less than a month ago but they are eager to learn! I have 19 students, 9 of which are EL, most beginning or early intermediate. Needless to say we are a Title 1 school and have a high EL population. My school is truly amazing. We work hard to make sure our students' needs our met. Our motto is "We do what's best for our kids!" My goal is to ensure that my students are proficient in reading, writing and math by the time they leave first grade.
My Project
An iPad mini would greatly engage all of my students during Centers time while I work with other students during reading instruction. I envision using the iPad with partners and having iPad time be one of their center choices. My struggling readers can work on applications that offer high interest reading and math games and that reinforce our common core standards. My advanced readers have an opportunity to work on activities and applications that enrich and expand the learning we are doing in the classroom, thus allowing them more freedom to expand their depth of knowledge. I know that students would love an opportunity to explore a different way of learning and reinforcing concepts. Won't you help?

This project would offer my students an opportunity to use technology they may not have available at home while being engaged in higher level learning.
