My students need 1 School House Bullies DVD and resource book, 1 Violence Prevention Skills workbook, 7 BullySafe games, and 30 copies of Bullying in Schools.
Putting an end to bullying! The WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) program helps create an environment where 6th graders feel cared for and supported by creating an atmosphere free of bullying, intimidation and fear and replacing it with support, connection and a sense of comfort and belonging.
With WEB, students help students succeed by using older students as peer mentors for the 6th graders.
WEB leaders are 8th graders who go through extensive training to become positive role models, motivators, and teachers. The WEB leaders are a catalyst for change at our school by modeling positive behavior for their peers, thus reducing incidences of teasing and bullying and helping to make middle school a place Where Everybody Belongs.
The WEB leaders are mentors to the 6th graders and help them socially, emotionally, and academically. WEB can help bully-proof our school by providing a cadre of student leaders who will look for bullying behavior and help stop it.
We would like to really enforce an anti-bullying campaign and could use some teaching tools and resources. We are trying to create a safe environment for all.
My Project
As much as we'd like to, teachers and administrators alone cannot prevent bullying. It takes an entire school and the students in it to prevent bullying. WEB gives older students permission to look for, stop and report any negative behavior they see.
These resources will help teach the WEB leaders about bullying. The DVD and resource books will be used to train the WEB leaders. Once the WEB leaders are well trained they will then work with their 6th graders and teach them about what bullying is, what it looks like, how to handle it, how to prevent it, and what they should do when they need help. These resources will be used every year to reinforce the anti-bullying campaign and it will help all students become responsible, caring individuals.
Bullying is not acceptable.
