My Students
Urban students traditionally have more academic issues to overcome, and these are no exception. My students are boisterous, curious, excited, and desire a good education but lack many of the things that other schools have.
Studies have shown that all children learn when they have the basic supplies necessary for their education.
We do not have technology in our room for students and want to provide as much as possible for them.
Many of these students are homeless, hungry, unhappy, yet hopeful, and want to learn so they can have a better life. These inner city, African American children are waiting for your help so they can succeed and make a positive impact on tomorrow's world.
My Project
Inner city children are often way out of their league when it comes to most things electronic and ours are no exception. We want to get a tablet into every student's hand so they can easily learn to research information needed via the Internet. We have very few books, many are outdated and the Internet can be only a few clicks away.
Our students vitally need to connect with the outside world to learn about the global society we live in and this is the most efficient way to achieve this.
Having technology at our fingertips will encourage students to focus on ideas they can research without having to wait for the possibility of getting into a computer lab at some point during the school year.
I will teach them basic keyboarding skills and the best methods for searching through the Internet for the information they need.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
