This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do not give up; the beginning is always the hardest. This is what I tell my students about push-ups.
I teach Physical Education in a high poverty inner city public school in Indiana.
Our school has almost 600 students, K-6, who love Physical Education! I see every student twice a week. We rarely go outside to play, so I want to teach the students how to exercise inside. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they could then go home and teach their families what they have learned? By doing this, the entire family will be exercising together, and everyone would be in shape!
Help me help them so we end the trend towards childhood obesity!
My Project
My students need six push-up mats. With the push-up mats, my students can work on doing their push-ups the right way. So many of my students do not do them the right way even after being told. I think these mats will be a great asset to help them master push-ups. We will use them at our fitness stations to practice for their FitnessGram testing.
Your donation to this project will help over 600 students in my school get on the right road to do their part to fight childhood obesity.
With your help, we can get our students on the right track to start their own fitness program. Students will benefit from this program for many years to come. Teaching the students the importance of staying in shape is the key to their future.
