My Students

Our students are a vivacious and diverse group of learners that love inquiry. The children in our kindergarten classes (at a Title I school) are 5 and 6 years old and for a lot of them this is their first experience in school. Our school has a large population of English as a second language students. We need an abundant amount of hands-on activities to keep them engaged and motivated to learn in order to help them be college and career ready.

My Project

The mission statement of Atlanta Public Schools is: "With a caring culture of trust and collaboration, every student will graduate ready for college and career." My hope is that this in-house science field trip will inspire a life-long interest in science.

It is totally hands-on and participatory and our students love to be fully involved in their learning.

All materials are provided and it is delivered by degreed professional instructors. How do objects move? Why do they stop moving? In what directions do they move: zigzag, round and round, straight? Our children will learn the science behind some of their favorite toys and see for themselves! By rolling, pushing, pulling and dropping, our students will explore motion and gravity in action. Marbles, balls, cars, tops, tracks and push/pull toys allow the physics playground to come to life in our classrooms.
