I am a sixth Grade teacher at IS 125 in the South Bronx. We are a title I school with students That have the potential to become great successes, all that they need is a little help to even out the playing field of life. This year we are going to take the students on a journey through the history of democracy and what it means to be a citizen of the United States of America. We have a year of project-based cooperative learning planned and it will be taught through a brand new Humanities curriculum that we have created. The students will start off the year learning about the constitution and the different symbols we use as Americans such as the flag. They will create their own flags and make representatives of famous American monuments. They will also being taking a journey through our countries history through novels and developing research projects based on the novel and the actual historic events. In order for this vision to become a reality the students need supplies. Please help us by donating the materials necessary for the hands on learning that so many children (70 this year) will benefit from. Thank You!
