My Project
The goal of this project is to make a statement, raise awareness, and support those affected by domestic violence. My students’ plan it to tie-dye white t-shirts purple and wear them every Friday to signify their solidarity with survivors of domestic violence and show their commitment to ending the cycle of abuse.
I am requesting the white T-shirts so that my students can have the materials needed to take on this project and be able to sell the shirts at a price that they have determined that fellow students would be willing to pay for them.
My students’ goal is to raise funds to support a local organization that provides essential resources and a summer camp experience for children impacted by domestic violence. Through the sale of these shirts, the students endeavor to spark conversations, challenge misconceptions, and create a culture of support and empathy within our school community and beyond.
My students plan to donate the purple dye for the tie-dye, but they don’t have the funds to cover the cost of the shirts. The students have a strong commitment to volunteering and showing support for others and the financial obstacle of buying the white T-shirts presents a hurdle that they can’t overcome in making their fundraiser a reality.
Through the tie-dying project and Friday ritual of wearing the purple shirts, my students hope to broaden understanding and awareness of the problem of domestic violence. They also want to provide a substantial donation to the local organization that supports the children affected by domestic violence.
