This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the sweetest group of thirty, 9-10 year old students. They are one of the two fourth grade general education classes at our small neighborhood school.

My students are all very eager to learn and are very excited about science, new technology and experiences.

They have learned quite a bit about air quality this year and are aware of the health risks associated with breathing in unhealthy air.

My Project

Here in the central valley of California, we have some of the worst air quality in the country. Our bowl shaped valley creates the perfect conditions to trap in pollutants and other harmful particles. During wildfire season our air quality becomes so hazardous that we aren't allowed outside.

Providing my students with air purifiers will give them healthy clean air that they need to learn and grow.

Not to mention it will also help reduce the likelihood of COVID spreading in our classroom since we are in such cramped quarters.
