My Students

It is always exciting to start a new school year! Teachers are excited about the new students, the students are excited about the new grade, the new teacher, and the new friends.

However, coming to a distance learning school everyday on time to learn is not an easy task for some students.

For some, it is a challenge due to their family situation, and in some cases lack of support. As a teacher, I wish they were coming to school everyday eager to learn and have new experiences, but that is not always the case.

Having the opportunity to provide my students with meaningful learning opportunities and having access to technology resources presents a challenge to me.

Sadly, our school does not have the budget or resources necessary to provide my students with more educational experiences in the classroom. Our school is a Title I school. We have 100% free lunch participation. We don't have good functional computers for the students to use during distance learning and many of my students' parents have some technology literacy limitations. All of these make learning hard for the students.

Despite that, I am planning to provide my students with the best quality education.

My Project

Distance learning is not easy for a good number of students in my classroom and in my school. Virtual learning needs to include multiple opportunities to develop essential skills in all areas of learning.

The materials in the project will make a BIG difference in my students language arts fundamental skills.

They will complement the students' learning because they provide a model and allow the students to keep a record of their work and see their progression. They will also provide an opportunity to practice the spelling of fundamental sight words.
