My students are eager pre-kindergarteners and this classroom is their first school experience. They are part of a Title One school with the majority qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Most are English language learners with Spanish being their home language.
Children today learn in many different ways and as teachers, we must discover these ways.
"If a child cannot learn in the way we teach, we must teach in a way the child can learn." The best way to do this is with hands-on activities.
My budget has been cut by over half and I want to be able to provide the same experiences that most little ones get to experience in preschool. Due to lack of funding, it is very hard to be able to provide my students with these materials.
Early intervention and the more opportunities we provide for these children, the better students they become and the earlier they will develop a love for learning.
My Project
These puppets will play a huge roll in the social and emotional development of my students everyday in my classroom. My students will understand they are not alone and that in our classroom we accept all students. My students will learn that they are all special and unique and each of us brings different things to the table, which we need to welcome and appreciate.
"These puppets will make a difference in my students' learning everyday because research shows students learn when they are in an environment where they feel happy, safe and accepted".
My students will be a chance to use these puppets everyday at centers which will help encourage acceptance and diversity.
