Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a speech-language pathologist in Chicago with a caseload of 55-60 diverse learners who need support in all areas of communication, from expressive/receptive language and articulation, to social skills and fluency (stuttering).
My students are the hardest-working and most positive-thinking kids you'll meet!
They also hail from a high-poverty neighborhood and face many challenges that can make it harder for them to access their education. They deserve extra creative and robust speech-language therapy during these crazy times to help them meet their greatest potential!
My Project
Puppets are a great way for preschool students to stay engaged and entertained while targeting therapy goals through song and role-play! Some students even respond better to a puppet than to a human adult since it's less intimidating.
The animal puppets will bring fun and excitement to therapy, and pair well with so many well-known songs and books to help bring them "alive." I added two children puppets of different ethnicities and races so my students will see themselves represented!
I am also requesting a TPT gift card for interactive, digital materials. Thanks in advance for helping my students reach their potential during remote therapy!
