My Project

My students are active learners. They love spending time in the library listening to stories and engaging with books. They also like to come to the library and hang out with their friends. Fun and loveable are two words that I would use to describe them. They are creative, playful, and love to be library helpers.

Puppets are a great way to spark creativity and increase engagement.

Interactive read alouds are one of my students' favorite activities in the library. Whether it is student participation in reading the story, using stuffed animals to retell stories, or working on reading fluency the students love to be a part of the lesson.

My goals for using the puppets are to promote literacy, increase engagement, and help build a sense of community. Students can use the puppets to retell stories or help them act out parts of the story. Older students love to read to the younger students, which helps build our school community. The puppets will give them a tool to make the story more engaging. Puppets also give reluctant readers confidence by putting the focus on the puppet and not themselves as they read.
