This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first-grade teacher at an excellent arts-integrated school that does so much good in the community. These kids deserve every chance to be successful, and I look forward to being a part of that.
The neighborhood surrounding the school is not an advantaged one, so I want to give my students the best possible school experience with lots of great learning tools.
My Project
This project will help with standards W.1.3 Narrative writing, RL.1.2 retell stories, SL.1.5 add visual displays, and L.1.1 demonstrate command of English when writing and speaking. Allowing students to express themselves through writing and creating puppet shows creatively will help them academically. Still, it will also help with social and emotional learning by expressing their feelings and coping with anxiety, stress, and other emotions associated with Covid 19. Young students need a positive and healthy outlook for expression, which could provide that in our classroom.
