My Students
Even in the time of this pandemic, my students have never felt more eager to participate, engage, and connect with their teachers and classmates. We are still a school of go-getters, technological pioneers, and creative thinkers!
Seeing my students' faces light up with smiles when they walk into the classroom is what keeps me inspired to make their learning experiences the very best they can be.
We are a Title I NYC DOE middle school, but more importantly, we are a close-knit community. Students, whether in-person or remote, love staying connected with one another. They thrive on being able to express how they're feeling and want to contribute their thoughts and ideas in meaningful ways through technology and digital platforms. I want to simply meet them where they're at right now.
My Project
Soundtrap by Spotify is an incredibly user-friendly platform that gives students the chance to explore the world of editing sound design and storytelling in a whole new way! Thanks to Soundtrap being a completely digital platform, students can work on their projects whether they are in-person or learning remotely. My class will use Soundtrap to delve into the world of podcast journalism! I'm looking to give my students agency over their own projects by teaching them how to use Soundtrap to host their very own podcast shows- with their school community as their listener audience! Pupils will create content by interviewing their peers, teachers, researching current events, and providing their own insights and reflections that others can benefit from hearing.
