This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is completely affected by this pandemic. As a physical education teacher my job is to teach students ways to keep healthy and fit. At this time more than ever we all need to be exercising, eating right, and getting enough sleep as we work our way through these times. Because exercise is not only good for the body but also the mind I have been providing my students with upbeat music videos, yoga, breathing exercises, health lessons, discussions, and more. I encourage my students to do any physical activity that they can possibly do at home with their families- freeze dance, playing catch with a ball or if no ball is available then a rolled up pair of socks. Bike riding, walking, running, jump roping are all ideas I have given my students though I’m some cases it is unsafe for the children to be outside. My students continue to learn on the chrome book devices that have been provided by the school.

My Project

My students will learn from home with songs, dance lessons, yoga movements, and calming breathing techniques with my guidance and use of the Bose Speakers. These speakers will be loud enough to use for recording videos for remote learning and also for when school is back in session to use in the gym. In my experience good music can really help one get motivated to move their bodies more quickly in very physical situations like a cardiovascular workout, become more calm in a cooling down exercise, and overall my students just have more fun in PE class when music is playing.
