My Project

Students in grade 3 to 6 participate in our after-school butterfly and gardening club. Students learn about sustainable practices and share what they have learned with our school community. They plant, and manage plants in our school garden, and raise monarch butterflies in our classroom. Every year, we provide a butterfly and caterpillar experience for our whole school. Students lead the experience and provide an opportunity for classrooms to visit our live caterpillar and butterfly tent! They also conduct classroom visitations to offer read aloud activities, art projects, and life cycle presentations. This project has really evolved over the years and is now 100% student led. They will use the butterfly tent habitats to continue taking caterpillars home. They use the artificial flowers to create student projects that they share with the whole school community.
