This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a third-grade dual language teacher, and as part of my curriculum, I am working on creating a comprehensive unit for Hispanic Heritage Month. The focus will be on the rich history and culture of Puerto Rico, with a particular emphasis on the island's historical and cultural contributions to the United States. Additionally, I want to connect this exploration to the migration experiences of Puerto Ricans and other communities, helping my students understand the importance of immigration and the diverse stories of new arrivals in the U.S. I want to create an environment where my new arrival students feel empowered to share their unique stories and experiences.
