This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Walk into my classroom, and you will find students engrossed in different kinds of learning. Some are working in small groups, others independently, and some on computers. I am always encouraged by their dedication to a growth mindset. I want to create a supportive environment that they deserve and crave. My students are curious, compassionate, and creative with a wide range of educational needs but a sincere love of learning. When given the supplies they need, my excellent students always flourish because they desire to succeed.

Having had so many months of interrupted formal instruction, the upcoming school year presents many challenges for all my students.

Still, they are eager to continue their learning in this new normal! My scholars are willing to continue their education now that they are entirely in person for the first time in almost two years. They would benefit from various classroom resources to help increase their success as they navigate and reacquaint themselves with their school, classroom, and peers.

My Project

My students come from a variety of backgrounds, but they have one thing in common. Over the last two school years, my students have had interruptions to their formal education due to the global pandemic. Some could have some formal education in the classroom, while others were entirely virtual. The dynamic mix has to lead to some exciting results, specifically in their reading levels.

As English Language Learners, some students find themselves still acquiring the language of English while still needing to meet the requirements of the third-grade reading standards.

That is where you come in! This project can help bridge the gap in my classroom library. The leveled readers in this project will allow my students to have access to books on their level. Text that is simple enough to read but with complex characters will help them build essential comprehension skills.
