Participate in producing a publishing paradise for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade pupils by purchasing a printer and ink! Be a partner and partake in their progress!
Dear Prospective Donors,
Our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade class will immensely benefit from your printer donation. We are a sweet, well behaved, self-contained special education class of 12 students, one teacher, and one paraprofessional (teacher assistant). Our disabilities include speech and language impairment, high functioning autism, emotional disturbance, and others. The students love using the computers to see their words in computer font; they view the screen and excitedly call over an adult to see their written work.
Unfortunately, we have never had a functioning printer. The words and thoughts of the children never leave the screen. Some work is saved, however it is permanently dwelling in the hard drive.
With your donation of a quality printer and ink, the children can finally have the opportunity to print their words and to publish their writing. A printed document of their words will increase their level of self esteem providing the chance to proudly display their writing. Viewing their words in print will give the children a chance see their work as professional, just like an adult's work.
Your donation will be frequently used to publish the children's work. We engage in a writing activity daily. Your donation will be used nearly as often (some assignments include graphic organizers and other mediums). It will be available to the students during their writing workshop and during choice time as an elective activity. The printer will bestow hours of education enjoyment and pride. This printer will be used by the students in the current school year and in the years to follow yielding immeasurable usage. Undeniably a worthy donation!
My entire class works with an occupational therapist at least twice a week. Occupational therapists work on fine motor skills such as handwriting. For some students, writing is a laborious and even physically painful task. Using a printer, the children can take one step further in their learning by transforming their perspective of writing from ardouus to joyous.
The Children's Workshop School is an alternative, progressive education public school for grades PreK-5. The teaching approach we employ is constructivist based believing that children learn more through experiences, hands-on projects, and self guided learning. Printed work and the use of computers to further self motivation and advancement is one that agrees with our philosophy and hopefully your philosophy as well.
Again, we are a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd students with disabilties in need of an efficient printer and ink cartridges.
Thank you for your consideration.
