This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Title I school in Colorado. My fourth grade students are becoming excited about writing. They have published three pieces thus far in the year. They saw a hardcover book that my daughter published when she was in fourth grade and they were so curious about it.

My students would love to publish their writing in a book similar to the one my daughter used.

It looks so professional and real. I want my students to have this opportunity.

My Project

My fourth grade students saw a book my 22-year old daughter made when she was in fourth grade and they were so excited about the idea of making their own book using a blank book.

The blank book enables them to feel like an author with a beautiful finished product in a book.

They kept asking me, "Where did your daughter get that book? How did she do that? Can we get a book like that?" I want to give my students a similar opportunity to publish their work in a blank book. I know they will look at their writing in a new way once they publish it in one of these books.
