Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am extremely lucky to work with a very diverse group of students. My students are children that have struggled with reading, writing, and math, but they do not let that hinder their ability to participate and progress. Each student that I work with has a unique outlook on their education. They are diligent and hardworking and are motivated when they see progress.
My students come from a lower socioeconomic background, and many are children from migrant families or families who are displaced by homelessness.
While facing adversity, my students come to class ready to learn, ready to socialize, and ready to interact with their peers. They want to work and they thirst for knowledge. My students also know that the way in which they learn is not the same as others. They understand that each student requires different strategies and they are willing to help their peers who are struggling.
My Project
Students struggle with using electronic devices to promote public speaking if it does not come in the form of a smartphone. Scripting, recording, and editing will be made easier for students when they are supplied with the tools necessary to create professional newscasts, yearbooks, and podcasts.
The camera and ring light will allow for professional quality newscasts to be created and streamed school-wide with all the necessary announcements the student body needs.
The microphone will help to enhance the voice of our quieter students, while also enabling students to practice their public speaking through interviews with staff, community members, and peers, as well as producing podcasts geared towards promoting literacy within the school.
