Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Global crisis have directly impacted my student population, my class is growing weekly with children who are looking for a safe place to learn. These are migrant and immigrant children who are seeking refuge in our community and in our city. As a teacher I want to be able to help and support ALL my students with providing access to the necessities to feel welcomed and supported.
These basic items I am asking for are from a list created from requests made by my students this past year.
It is a collection of food, hygienic and educational support materials that are in the highest demand. By creating a storage of these materials I can create welcome bags for each new students in my class and give out select individual items when needed.
Giving to my students when they need is not gift giving, but a matter of providing basic care to create equity in our community. I need my students to know that their well-being matters and that they are cared for in my classroom.
