Providing Warmth This Christmas!

Help me give my students a nice, cozy blanket to have at home for the holidays. The weather is getting colder and my students need snuggly blankets to keep them warm at night.

My Students

I work at a school district that serves a student community that is 90% Native American. They are respectful, motivated, and eager to learn. Despite all their daily obstacles they are resilient and strive for any learning opportunity. Although most of our families live below poverty level, it does not damper the willingness to learn and do well at school.

My Project

I am requesting blankets which will be used to bring my students joy and comfort during the long, cold winter months. For students to come to school, ready to learn, they have essential needs that must be met first. Being warm and feeling safe are essential needs, and meeting those needs is exactly how I plan to use these resources. Not only will these blankets warm students physically, but they will also warm their hearts.

We have so many families that have to choose between buying food and other essentials OR getting them a Christmas present.

You would be amazed by the number of students that do not get a single gift for Christmas. Not because their parents don't want to give them, but because they CAN'T. I'd love to ease the burden for them AND provide their babies with something that will keep them warm over winter break! This fleece blanket with a cup of hot chocolate, and a few sweet treats will be the perfect gift to keep them warm.

Also, the blankets will show them that someone (that's us) cares and truly is invested in their lives. When students feel safe and loved, their hearts and minds are opened to the wonderful world of learning and giving.
