Technology has grown exponentially since I have begun teaching. Learning devices such as iPads and laptops have been shown to both teach and motivate students to learn. Having access to more digital technology is another way for my preschool students to demonstrate their creativity and learning.
I am a preschool special education teacher and I work at a Title I school located in a rural area of Oahu.
My classroom is filled with a mix of both special needs students and students who come from lower socioeconomic families. These families do not have the means to purchase technology for their children at home. Despite coming from homes that face daily economic challenges, my students come to class eager to learn.
My Project
I have seen how my students' eyes light up when I bring in my personal iPad for them to use. I have spent a lot of my own money to load preschool relevant educational programs that provide learning opportunities and exposure to my students. These iPad learning apps help young children learn important concepts such as literacy, math, and science in a fun and exciting way. However, I feel like having a class iPad of their very own would absolutely fill them with joy, motivation, and an eagerness to explore technology that is leap years greater than what they have already been exposed to.
Please help me teach my preschool special education students to be knowledgeable and motivated learners by purchasing an iPad for the classroom.
You would not just be providing them with a learning tool; you would be providing them a doorway into the world of technology.
