Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my classroom, I have students with diverse needs, many of whom face mental health challenges or have disabilities that impact their daily learning experience. It is essential that these students feel supported and safe in an environment where they can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically. With your help, we can ensure they have the resources they need to navigate their school day with confidence.
I am seeking donations for snacks and sensory toys to support the mental health and well-being of my students.
For many of my students, a simple snack can help regulate blood sugar and prevent emotional distress due to hunger, making it easier for them to focus and stay engaged in class. A small gesture like providing a healthy snack can make a significant difference in their ability to participate in lessons, complete assignments, and interact with peers.
Sensory toys are just as important. For students with disabilities, especially those with autism, ADHD, or other sensory processing needs, these toys help them manage anxiety, improve focus, and promote calmness during moments of overwhelm. These toys, such as stress balls, fidget spinners, or textured materials, allow students to self-regulate and return to learning in a more balanced state.
In addition to the toys and snacks, these resources create a classroom environment that prioritizes emotional well-being, helping students feel understood and cared for. When their needs are met — both physically and mentally — they can experience greater success in the classroom and beyond.
