Help me give my students two LEGO Spike Prime robotics kits in order for more students to practice coding and mathematical thinking as we prepare for our next FIRST LEGO League competition!
Our school competed in its first FIRST LEGO League competition during this school year. We will take a new set of students to compete in the next qualifier this fall. Our students worked hard and won the Judges' Award based on their scores from their presentation of their Innovation Project, CORE Values, and Robot Design! Their Gracious Professionalism really stood out the day of the competition and throughout the months leading up to it. Judges' Award out of 36 teams was quite the accomplishment considering we are an elementary team and it was our first year competing.
One area that our team must improve upon is the Robot Game, where students build and code Spike Prime robots in order to compete several missions in front of judges, other teams, and the crowd.
These additional Robotics kits will allow our students to have more time building and coding the robots during practices. With improved scores from the Robot Game and Robot Design, we hope to make it to the state competition.
As the school Media Specialist, I am looking forward to doing more STEM activities with all of our students as we add to our makerspace.
We are a TItle I school where more than 70% of our students receive Free or Reduced Price Lunch. Our FLL Robotics team practices in the fall. We then host a Robotics Club in the spring so that more students are able to learn more about coding. Our students advance to a STEM Magnet Middle School when they enter the 6th grade. Thank you for providing these additional robotics kits to help prepare numerous students with a stronger foundation in STEM activities!
