This is my second project and the products I have selected will provide the clinic with more up-to-date assessment tools. The assessment tools will allow students to have access to digital vital signs when in the clinic creating a learning opportunity as well as an optimal medical assessment.
During emergent situations, the school nurse is the first line of medical care and for a large number of the school population, the only consistent medical care students receive.
Working independently, the stethoscope allows for accurate auscultation of both heart and lung sounds, with the capability of recording heart sounds in an emergent situation to be able to share with advanced medical care practitioners. The digital blood pressure cuff allows students to see their blood pressure and allows a teaching opportunity about what a blood pressure reading is and what is a normal range. The wireless otoscope with ear camera allows for a higher quality exam of the ear canal while also allowing for another educational moment to shows students what we are looking for and what is normal compared to abnormal. Working with elementary age students, the ear thermometer is a quicker and easier thermometer, providing a more accurate temperature reading. Rashes and skin issues are one of the hardest things to determine in the school nurse setting and the Pediatric Dermatology Deck will allow for better detection. Other supplies are basic nursing supplies that are more disposable or need to be replaced more frequently.
