Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is in a very low income area where 98% percent of students are on free lunch. The area is a rural farming community and we get a lot of migrant families who do not have the opportunity to give their children many extras luxuries in life. We have some girls who have already experienced many traumas in their life.
Each of these students deserve to have the same chances of any one else.
They are special in the same way all children are, they are beginning their lives and rely on us adults to show them how beautiful the world can be.
My Project
As a first year teacher I am finding many gaps in our district funding and the basic needs of our students. This early into the early I am already running low on many necessary supplies for the classroom to run day to day and want to make sure that the students are provided everything they need to succeed! I have included many supplies that our classroom is running low on or lacking, plus some resources for me in order to make sure that they reach their full potential. 5th graders need a lot of help and I am striving to give them all that I can. They have also requested that I look for some books which they really enjoy and I am hoping I can get for them. I strive to build that love of reading because I know how much it will help them in all aspects of their academic life.
